The amount of water at the various points 1 was measured and calculated approximately by Mr. Hamilton, as shown in the following table, after a heavy rain. If only one-fourth of these quantities represents the dry-weather ?ow, there will still be much more than enough in the river-bed at all times to dispose of all the sewage that is likely to be discharged into it for at least very many years, if not for all time.
