After several very narrow escapes from the unyielding Law Enforcers of Pangaea, escaped prisoner Mark, his friend Randy Hinton, and ex-enforcer Dutch Rightwell escape to another Earth colony, Gennearth, to continue the search for Mark's family.
Yet their escape is no guarantee of safety. Head Enforcer Sula and Enforcer Burke have followed them through space, determined to return them both to the Young Males' Correctional Facility. Meanwhile, Acting Head Enforcer Lance Hernsen, plagued by doubts, begins an unprecedented second investigation into Mark's case while Randy's parents go into hiding. Elsewhere on Gennearth, Wesley Jefson and his companion Jasen Treiger continue their runaway journey to return to New Seattle with no idea what potential adventures await them.
