Publisher's Synopsis

This book is about Palestinian Liberation theology in the Middle East. Palestinian Liberation theology is a theological approach to political issues by Christian leaders and academics. Many Arab Christians see themselves as heirs of a wealthy Christian inheritance that is under pressure from strife and persecution. Many Christians in the Middle East see secular politics as a way out of their common minority position in the mid-twentieth century. According to Naji Al-Hussein, the emergence of Islamist parties, and their own dwindling numbers, has shifted the Christian stance to one of control rather than direct force. According to him, certain Christians highlight the historic Christian existence as a symbol of their devotion to the homeland that predates Islam. He says that Palestinian Christians comprise 2% of the populace in Israel and the West Bank/Gaza.During the 2016 election cycle, Christian leaders established an unexpected political coalition with the Muslim Brotherhood. The doctrine of the text starts with an emphasis on God's grace for all humans and Christian love for others.
