Publisher's Synopsis
Ower Laund, Ower Sea translates into Scots language 94 of the 101 poems in Over Land, Over Sea: Poems for those seeking refuge (Five Leaves Publications, 2015).
Translated by Donald Adamson, the poems bear witness to how men, women and children are crossing continents by foot and risking lives at sea in search of places of refuge. Many are driven from home by war and catastrophe. Ower Laund, Ower Sea: Poems fur Bield-Seekers offers responses that range from grief to hope, from satire to anger, and is a reminder that those on the move and those seeking refuge are fellow human beings - people, much like us. Many of the poets featured in the anthology and whose work is translated here live in the East Midlands region of England, others further afield. Some come from migrant families, others campaign or raise funds for refugees. The poets include Chrissie Gittins, Ziba Karbassi, Joanne Limburg, Sheenagh Pugh, Mahendra Solanki, Lydia Towsey and Rory Waterman.
