Publisher's Synopsis
Business process outsourcing (BPO) is the practice of using a third party, contracted to perform specific, specialized processes on a company's behalf. Outsourcing has become an important business tool over the past decade. It is an arrangement in which one organization provides services to another organization that could also be or usually have been provided in-house. A competitive advantage may be gained when products or services are produced more efficiently and effectively by outside service (process or activity) providers. More and more large and small companies are turning to outsourcing as a grow method or strategy with the aim of controlling of overhead costs, restraining payroll and better access to outside knowledge. In recent years, however, outsourcing strategies have undergone a profound evolution, from simple forms of production contracts made with third parties to agreements that involve functions and activities which, requiring "core competencies", or being part of the "core business", have until now been considered inseparable from the company and not capable of being outsourced. In this era of globalization, many companies settle for BPOs to reap the benefits of outsourcing and develop standard product/process that can withstand the international competition. Outsourcing helps in improving the quality of product, customer satisfaction, and better interaction with the customer and in increasing market share.
