Complete first series of the British television comedy about two mismatched couples who meet in the village's local cricket team over the course of one long, hot summer. Bohemian Kevin and Maggie Costello (Timothy Spall and Josie Lawrence) are a complete contrast to uptight Mim Dervish (Brenda Blethyn) and her fanatical cricketer husband Roger (Robert Daws). As the two women form a tentative friendship, and the two men form a friendly rivalry, Mim discovers a long-stifled independent streak, something that has unforseen repercussions. Episodes are: 'The Captain'; 'Getting to Know You'; 'The Committee Meeting'; 'Sex'; 'The Team Tea'; 'The Night Before Cromer' and 'The Match in Cromer'. Also included is the original 1982 television play on which the series is based.
