Publisher's Synopsis
A review of the level that women's studies has reached in terms of its status as an academic subject in the eyes of higher education institutions. The book is made up of a selection of papers from the 1989 and 1990 Women's Studies Network UK conferences and the papers ask how the subject of women's studies relates to feminism and what its problems are as a mainstream subject. These papers also consider previously marginalized topics like lesbianism and black women's studies and discuss their effect on the subject as a whole.
