Publisher's Synopsis
Set in the mid 50s, Out Into Space follows Chris, a young man from a working class background in a northern industrial town, who is fed up with the drab, dull routine of his working life; he’s going nowhere fast. That is until a chance meeting with a cousin brings along an unexpected business opportunity selling advertising space. Soon Chris begins to progress, earning decent money from this new enterprise, which was becoming easier by the day. Revelling in his new, improved lifestyle, Chris and the people he begins mixing with begin to lose focus on work, caring more about partying, boozing and chasing the girl than their business. Although Chris had always been a drinker, due to this new environment his alcohol consumption becomes greater by the day. Fortunately he can handle this, but when he introduces the habit to one of the major loves of his life they are not so lucky. A story of love and loss that will make you laugh and cry in equal measure. If you like TV's Shameless, you'll relish this novel.
