Publisher's Synopsis
This is the second translation of a title in the established German series of textbooks on experimental physics named after their authors, Bergmann and Schaefer. In this series, methods of measurement and experimental technology are emphasized and important discoveries are described. The experimental results are presented together with the relevant theoretical framework in order to provide good overlap with textbooks on theoretical physics.;This volume presents a comprehensive treatment of classical optics, laser optics, X-ray optics, electron optics, neutron and atom optics, and even of the optics of gravitational fields. It is written mainly from an experimental point of view and is intended for undergraduate and postgraduate students as well as for physicists and engineers dealing with daily optical problems.
