Police Detective Samuel Trusty is drawn back to a small town where he investigated a Murder month's prior. He takes over the position of the retiring Chief of Police, and moves to be near Kate McClure, who has caught his eye. A romance ensues and the two of them respectfully court before becoming engaged to be married. Chuck Atteberry, the murderer, upon hearing of "His Kate's" wedding, escapes from a prison transport van and kidnaps her. Chuck grapples with God as Kate begins to understand the man she has justified hating all her life.When Chuck becomes deathly ill, things change. Will he live to see another day?
