Rev. Johnson Olive (1816-1885) was born in Chatham County, North Carolina. When he was eighteen he became a faithful Christian and began helping the Reverend P. W. Dowd in his work. In 1846 Olive became a Baptist minister and began preaching till the death of his oldest daughter. As a result of his sadness, he was unable to work for five years. In 1866 he began writing a manuscript about his spiritual agitation. His son, published the book, One of the Wonders of the Age; or, The Life and Times of Rev. Johnson Olive in 1886.
