Publisher's Synopsis

This paper aims to analyse the representations of women in society through Walt Disney Animation Studios' princess cartoons. The process that began with the film "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" (1937) has been followed by a series of animated film productions whose protagonists are princesses. These productions have gained so much prominence that they currently represent the company's most profitable franchise, most of which are based on traditional fairy tales. Through their production team, they bring colour, sound and movement, seducing the viewer. The aim of this work is to look at these animations and see the representations of women in each era, taking into account what was happening in society during the periods in which they were conceived.
