It has been a wonderful pleasure and honor to co-edit this second Romanian/Australian anthology produced by Mihaela Cristescu. The journeys and memories invoked are a lively, jostling bunch of ideas, emotions, impressions. The imagery of wells (Luminita Serbanescu) reflects the authenticity and freshness of the writing, and the depths writers draw from. The collected pieces also gain strength from each other, with the power to provoke thought, despair, and delight. Keep an eye out for some unplanned motifs: railways, identity, discrimination, the rituals of death, and love. My only disappointment is that I cannot yet read Romanian. Congratulations to all contributors. Your works ripple into the memories of our own journeys.
