Excerpt from On the Therapeutic Application of Electro-Magnetism in the Treatment of Rheumatic and Paralytic Affections
Having had, through the kindness of Dr. Froriep, an opportunity of witnessing the application of electro-magnetism in the treatment of many of the following cases, I was convinced that it was a valuable remedy in the treatment of rheumatic complaints, and my own subsequent experience has strengthened this belief. The therapeutic value of electro-magnetism has never been fairly tried-�it has been resorted to as a universal remedy capable of effecting impossibilities when all other remedies have failed; from this its want of success has arisen, and cons�ciuently it has not been duly appreciated. The desire to bring this remedial agent into more general favour, has induced me to undertake the translating of this work.
