The phenomena of nystagmus and the displacements of the head that occur in rotations, aural irrigations, and galvanism applied to the mastoid areas, were observed by him independently and the mechanisms involved in their production studied and worked out before he had any information of the work done by Barany, Neumann and others. He makes therefore, no pretensions for this part Of his work on the score of priority in time, but submits it to the profession in the hope that the work will speak for itself.
