Publisher's Synopsis

"On the Move" is a course for students at post-First Certificate level which aims to teach broad skills rather than specific exam techniques and is designed to take students up to a level where they can begin a Proficiency course.;The course develops students' abilities to learn and acquire language through an integrated skills syllabus, organized around thematic sections. Each section is divided into four units, each of which examine the topic area from different angles. By exploring the topic area from various perspectives, language is gradually recycled and new learning grows from previously assimilated material. The work includes a range of reading texts, from Shakespeare to popular magazines.;Each unit begins with visual stimuli to start a discussion of the topic, and skills tasks and accuracy work on vocabulary and grammar arise from the particular text. The unit ends with a follow-up writing assignment and after four units there is a section testing and consolidating material used in those units.;The accompanying Teacher's Book contains detailed teaching notes, plus answer keys and tapescripts to all the listening material on the cassette.
