Besides the circuit reminiscences, the collection includes three biographical sketches and four papers dealing with various aspects and phases of the law of crime and criminal procedure. The address on Johnson with which the volume concludes has, I am sensible, its full share of the defects inseparable from such compositions. It contains no new matter and is meant only for those who fancy they have no leisure to pioclwr their Boswell but who enjoy an occasional hour in the atmosphere of the Literary Club.
