This series offers a thematic and coherent pathway through the geography attainment targets, developing the skills and knowledge demanded at this level. Locality studies involving real children in real situations are at the centre of the series. There is a progression in terms of location and scale - from local to regional to international communities. Throughout the series the relationship between people and the environment is constantly referred to. The effect each has on the other is used to link the themes covered and to promote a conscious understanding of the effects, uses and abuses that humanity has on the environment.;"Oliver & Boyd Geograpy" at Key Stage 2 combines all the aspects of geographical study within locality studies. This introduces pupils to the need for constant comparisons in geography, as well as encouraging cross-curricular links, especially with history and the changes that can occur to a place over time.;There are five pupils' books, teacher's guides and copymaster packs provided at Key Stage 2, one of each is supplied for each year at Key Stage 2. These take pupils right up to National Curriculum level 5, thus bridging the link between primary and secondary geography education.;The teacher's guide shows how to implement the course and how it meets the requirements of the Geography National Curriculum. It provides specific information relating to each pupils' book, suggestions on how to use them and details of how they relate to each other. Background information on each of the themes is covered along with suggested questions for discussion, possible cross-curricular links, and ideas for assessment. The Key Stage 2 teacher's books have separate units for each section in the pupils' book. These relate the pupils' books to all other elements of the course.
