Excerpt from Old Niagara County's Share in the Battle of Lake Erie
Erastus granger.were the Mary, Captain Rough; the Erie. Captain Norton, and the Friends' Good-will, Captain Lee. The fourth was the Salina, Captain Dobbins, owned at Erie. At the surrender of Detroit in August, 1812, the British captured the United States war vessel, the Adams, and soon afterward they captured the Cuyahoga Packet at Malden, and a lit tle later the C'hippawa. Somewhere on Lake Erie they also captured the Ran ger and: the Nancy, both owned by Por ter. Barton Cc., of Black Rock. This makes nine vessels lost to the American side, and added to the British force.
