Publisher's Synopsis

Informative text combines with archive images of these four villages in the west of Fife strung along the north shore of the Forth. Culross the author describes as "one of the gems in the crown of the nation's heritage" and today the National Trust for Scotland is involved there and it is much visited. By contrast High Valleyfield was a mining village, while Newmills and Low Torrie developed to provide its population with shops and services. The link between these villages though is mining as Culross had its origins in that industry and in salt-making. This is a great book with a lot of previously unseen photos and a superb text that really will appeal to visitors as well as informing the locals.
