I proceeded to Van Diemen's Land from Bengal, in 1829, on account of my health; and after having recovered a portion of my usual strength, I made several short pedestrian excursions from Hobart Town into the interior of the country. So soon as I considered myself capable of undergoing the fatigue, I went across the Island, in the direction of Launceston and then taking an Easterly course, towards the sea coast, I returned to Hobart Town.
