A comprehensive classification of nursing interventions/protocols, designed for use by student and practising nurses. The first section provides an introduction to the purpose and methods used to develop the classification, presenting an overview of the entire project, describing the research team and defining the terms used in the project. The generation of the initial list of interventions is examined, including the construction of a computer database. Also included are survey labels, focus group labels, procedures and forms for label and activity development, and a list of publications associated with the project.;The second section classifies some 350 nursing interventions, each one of which features a definition and a set of activities to carry it out. Coverage includes all direct care treatment activities, both physician-prescribed and nurse-prescribed. Each intervention and associated activity is coded with a classification number.
