Quoique ces discours presentent ca et la quelques-unes des formes de la predication, ce ne sont pourtant pas-des ser mons; aucun n'a ete preche; presque aucun n'a ete ecrit en vue de la chaire; mais tous ont ete destines a une assemblee publique, devant laquelle aussi presque tous ont ete lus. Je iais cette observation pour justifier la forme de ces composi tions, dont l'intention est oratoire, et non purement didactique, mais qm ne sont ni ce que des sermons sont ordinairement, ni surtout ce que des sermons doivent etre.
