A pleasant night at the carnival takes a weird turn when a few of Nix's old foes crash the party to ask for her help. For hunters, "asking for help" and "kidnapping, with a side of extortion" are synonymous endeavors. Nix has been around a long time. She's seen a lot of stupid people do a lot of stupid things, but never like this. And now she's stuck with the fools. Hunted by their own, stalked by vengeful demons, and generally bursting apart at the seams, these hunters already have a foot in the grave. Nix can't imagine why they willingly summoned her back into their lives. Their reasons end up being much darker than she could have anticipated-and there's nothing Nix loves more than darkness.
