Des les premiers jours de Victoria, une petite vigne, d'un demi hectare, avait ete plantee par le premier proprietaire de la station de Yering, achetee, en 1849, par mon frere. Un vigneron Bourguignon, soignait cette vigne et en faisait le vin, et, sur la table hospitaliere du squatter, le vin de Yering s'etait peu a. Peu fait un nom dans la colonie. Encourage par cet essai, mon frere avait ajoute 100 arpents a cette premiere plantation. Un de nos amis et compatriotes, M. S. De Fury, qui revenu en Europe depuis, partage maintenant son temps entre ses vignes a Vevey et ses orangers a Menton avait aussi etabli une vigne de 20 arpents a trois milles de mon frere.
