Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from Nordisa an Opera in Three Acts
As regards the music the composer has attempted nothing unusual, unless the endeavour to please the general public rather than to educate or astonish them may be so considered. The indispensable local colour has been sought in three instances (the cradle-song and Halling in Act I. And N ordisa's cattle-call in Act II.) by the use of actual Norwegian melodies, but in all other cases merely by an attempted imitation of the Scandinavian style. Should the general result, however, be deemed not so much Norsk as English, the composer will be by no means sorry - nor, perhaps, will the public.
