Publisher's Synopsis

Excerpt from Nonlinear Evolution of Longitudinal Plasma Waves

However there appear several logical gaps in the analyses of Ref. 9. The most serious gap is the neglect of the inertial term in the non-resonant region, which leads to a direct violation of the Poisson's equation. A detailed discussion of this point is given in Section VII. The integration constant for the lowest order resonant layer solution in Ref. 9 is also in error, which directly affects the final result for the nonlinear decay rate.
