Publisher's Synopsis
Standard ultrasonic testing uses transducers that are coupled directly with a bonding agent to the sample under test. This approach presents few problems for the majority of applications. However if the sample is hot, rough or moving then experimental difficulties may well be encountered. There has therefore been considerable effort over the last 10 years to develop non-contacting techniques. Laser and electromagnetic techniques have proved the most successful. This conference discussed these two approaches and the proceedings provide current information on the state of this particular technology.
