New Studies in Post-Cold War Security

This book examines the current issues and trends in security between the Atlantic and China, by examining the theoretical implications and future prospects arising from a series of detailed case-studies of specific nations in this region and two more thematic studies of crucial issues ? the changing character of international conflict and the question of the role of nuclear weapons in the post-Cold War world. The emphasis is on evaluating contemporary changes and highlighting trends and consequences of the present and recent (post-Cold War) situation. - - The aim is, therefore, to present new interpretations of post-Cold War security and to introduce specific case-studies. This book is not, however, intended to be a comprehensive study of all aspects of this issue, nor of all those examples and states which might be examined. As such, it will be of interest to both specialists and those studying this important topic to whom it will form not only a reinterpretation of the current international security situation and its prospects, but an introduction to new theoretical approaches and case-studies of wide relevance.
