Publisher's Synopsis

New Perspectives in Social Education is the outcome of a major curriculum development project initiated by the Victorian Association of Social Studies Teachers. The four books create a comprehensive Social Education programme for Years 7-10. Each book is sequential, beginning with Book 1 for Year 7. However, a flexible design of the course enables successful entry to the programme at any stage. The New Perspectives in Social Education project promotes an interdisciplinary approach which will also be relevant to students of Geography, History, Australian Studies and Environmental Studies. Book 3 examines work, technology and change; people and politics; the different beliefs in Australia; cultural diversity; ownership and use of energy resources; and the mass media and its impact on society.
