The Victorian Association of Social Studies Teachers has spent 18 months developing the New Perspectives in Social Education project with teachers in Victoria and other Australian states. The project provides a complete social education course for secondary school students through four full colour books which are highly illustrated with photographs, cartoons, illustrations, newspaper articles, graphs, tables and documents. Book 1 examines many important issues of relevance to current society, from environmental issues, food production and natural disasters to decision making, gender issues, and human and animal rights.
