Publisher's Synopsis
This book develops the latest debates on the role of technological change in the world economy. Although the scope of the papers is fairly broad, it will become apparent that they are in fact closely interrelated despite the diversity of approach.;The papers are grouped in three parts. The first group deals with problems of "innovation" management and strategy of the firm - the second group deals with the "diffusion" of innovations within a major service industry (banking) and a major manufacturing industry (automobiles), and with the organisational changes which accompany technical innovation, whether in banking or in the car industry. The third group is concerned with basic theory and theoretical models and with policy. Ranging from the theoretical to the applied, the research reported here is of interest to economists, political scientists and science policy analyses worldwide.
