Publisher's Synopsis
The chapters of this book provide an overview of one of the most exciting areas in plant sciences, namely the mode of action of plant growth factors and their biosynthesis. Special attention is given to the role of plant growth factors in cellular processes like cytoskeleton dynamics, ion channel activitiy and developmental processes like cell cycle control, embryogenesis and the formation of a new organ the legume root nodule. Further the role of plant growth factors in response to biotic and abiotic stresses is described. These overviews make clear that the currently known plant growth factors are key players in development and adaptation of plants.
