Publisher's Synopsis
This work focuses on the influence of neuropeptides on development throughout the life span. It has become increasingly apparent that the central nervous system is not a passive entity determined by either environment or heredity. Rather, the brain appears to interact with its environment throughout early and later development, and thus contributes to its own structural and functional systems. This work describes the role neuropeptides play in this process.;These papers were presented at a conference entitled "Neuropeptides in Development and Aging", held in the first joint meeting of the European Neuropeptide Club and the 17th Winter Neuropeptide Conference, both affiliated with the International Peptide Society, on February 3-6, 1996, at Breckenridge, Colorado.
