Publisher's Synopsis
This volume focuses on diagnostically problematic neoplasms and related lesions of the head and neck. A selection of 20 cases is presented, many of which serve as focal points for discussion of additional related lesions. Topics covered include light microscopically "undifferentiated" tumours, problematic salivary gland neoplasms, variants of aquamous cell carcinoma, midline destructive lesions, lymphoid proliferations, distinctive granulomatous and infectious processes, polyps and papillomas, neoplasms, and sarcomas predilecting the head and neck region. Emphasis is placed on a practical approach to diagnosis based on clinical and light microscopic features. Ancillary diagnostic techniques such as immuno-histochemistry, in situ hybridization, and electron microscopy are discussed where appropriate.
