The work of which the following is a reprint, 'received some attention at the period of its publication in 1848, when several thousand copies were in circulation in Eng land; and a still larger number in America. It happened to be connected with important events in the Oxford Movement of 1833, which have however been almost for gotten and the work itself has become a rarity.
