Nanotechnology for Cancer Detection and Diagnosis is organized into sections which include high-level overviews of systems biology and systems technology, descriptions of the platforms which can be applied to the problems, technologies that are essential enablers of nanotechnology, how nanotechnology is and can be used in the near and mid term to approach problems in cancer, and the view of experts as to how to best disseminate this technology, and provide the nidus for further cross fertilization. The section on nanotechnology enablers is extremely important, as it provides the overview of areas that, while not nanotechnology themselves are crucial to the success of the application of nanotechnology to cancer problems. This volume also includes an innovative section on technology dissemination and education, as we believe that these will be critical issues for the use of nanotechnology and its further development through cross-fertilization of disciplines.
