Publisher's Synopsis
The year: 1939. The Fuehrer's war against all humanity now engulfs Europe. Great Britain issues a desperate call for American pilots to train RAF fighters.
Eddy McGowen, a clean-cut New England farmboy, has mastered flight before even learning to shave. Early on in Eddy's instruction, his trainer-a barnstorming daredevil uncle-has taught his 17-year-old protégé "Any fool can take one of these [airplanes] off the ground. The real trick is getting it back down on the ground in one piece." Eddy finds out first-hand just how relevant and timely his uncle's advice is-not only to aviation, but to all of life itself-as he leaves home and family to answer England's call. Eddy soon finds himself fighting for life, liberty, and love as he faces Hitler's barrage of war-hardened airmen. World War II is not the only conflict raging in Eddy's heart . . .
