After escaping the Rwandan genocide and witnessing the murder of her mother and younger brother, fourteen year old Rosie Bemba falls into the hands of Aristole. Rosie and the girls finally escape Aristole, and life takes a turn for the better. After achieving her doctorate, she returns to Rwanda, where she becomes the governor's wife and an exceptionally accomplished, powerful and wealthy woman.
