Publisher's Synopsis
The inevitable association I have with a modern family is with the TV show of that same name. Although their family is modern in some ways, it is also rather normal in this day and age. To describe my family, compared to the standard set by the TV show, I must resort to superlatives or take inspiration from the art world, and call my family a post-modern family. I´m Emma by the way. I consider myself to be a strong opinionated woman, and I love to work with computers and write my own computer code. I hate applying stereotypes, but love knowing about them. I´ve have been adopted at the age of 16 by a 21-year-old single gay man, who sometimes likes to dress up in drag (i.e., my "mother"), which makes for a highly enjoyable and often weird family dynamic. We are now two years further along, I´m in my senior year of high school and my "dad" goes to medical school nearby. What we shared from the start is a love for the same type of man, that is, hot gay men. Which, in my case, is unfortunate because of obvious reasons. My "dad" is quite eager to take these men off my hands when I inevitably learn that they are not attracted to me. When it comes down to parenting, there is not much you can still do when your "daughter" is 16. Normally, you would not want to be best friends with your "dad" but in this case we are. My "dad" is eager for me to find love because that is what I want, but somehow, I don´t want him to meddle. I yearn for romance and love in my life and I´m surely not going to let a little adversity stand in my way. I have to admit, the fact that I usually fall for hot gay guys is a little frustrating. We´ll see how desperate I become; I might need his help after all. Follow Emma in her quest for love in this feel-good romantic comedy, which is best enjoyed with a heap of chocolate.
