Publisher's Synopsis
Davi Jones is a loner, a drunk, and an ex-felon who barely survives by operating a small nightclub in downtown Vicksburg. A move by the state legislature to legalize casino gaming changes everything. Suddenly, Davi's "worthless" land on the riverfront is one of the most valuable properties in the state. Corrupt members of the police department and their felonious accomplices take notice. In an attempt to steal the property, they enlist the services of a beautiful woman and her badly abused daughter. Davi's life is forever altered, not only by the promise of wealth, but by his growing love for what he has never before experienced - a "family" and a "daughter." Bribery, death threats, and finally murder are consequences of the thieves' determined efforts. But worst of all is the terror Davi endures when he learns that the real father of his "daughter," the most evil of the predators, plans to use her as a pawn in the war for control of the land. The decisions he is forced to make to counter the threats will haunt him forever.
