Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from My First Story-Book: The Letterpress
Though it is cold winter weather, with snow on the ground, on purpose that she may spend a day with her daughter, and see her favourite grandchild Lucy. But little Miss Lucy, who is generally rather noisy and fond of a game of romps, is so shy this afternoon that she will hardly look up, and won't say a word. Come and sit on my knee, dear, says grandmamma, holding out her hands ready to take her pet. Yes, sit upon grandmamma's knee, there's a good little girl, repeats the nurse. But Lucy resolutely shakes her head, and leaning it closer on nurse's shoulder seems determined not to move from where she is now. So poor grandmamma has to be contented with looking at Lucy, instead of holding her in her arms as she so very much wishes to do, and hopes that when next she comes to the house her little grandchild will be wiser than she is today, and not be so shy; but come at once and sit on the knee of grandmamma who loves her so well.
