At the end of Thurlow, the first book in the trilogy, Sir Humphrey Soame has lustful designs on the young footman James, who rejects his master's advances. As an act of revenge Soame enacts a ploy to have James accused of theft; the lad is torn from his family, to begin an existence of degradation as a convict.
Mutt Mutt Billy tells the tale of two epic voyages to the far side of the world. The first brings handsome Luke Reddall to the colony of New South Wales, where he eventually becomes a gentleman farmer, a man's man, and a hero pioneer. The second transports James Baker Waldon on a convict ship, where plots and hatched and riots ensue.
Fate will unite the pair, and they share many adventures, James finding love, and Luke his true nature.
