Publisher's Synopsis
Simon is in a rut. When he starts to question the futility of playing for one of the worst football teams in Ireland, he must decide whether he can survive without football and if football can survive without him. His best mate Larry, a profligate striker and Johnny, a fiery midfield extraordinaire, are really starting to get on his nerves. All Simon wants is to play well for St Brigid's and to figure out his place in the footballing landscape. He comes across an unsettling truth about the team's suicidal brand of football and develops an unusual enemy in the form of a barman called Mike. A decent run in the cup and the demon drink are the only things keeping him interested. However, when Simon works out what a true friend looks like, his life changes forever.
