Dear Mr. Gladstone, - The newspapers have recently published two letters from your Secretary, written under your authority, in which you have disputed the justice of certain criticisms made by me upon the financial state ments contained in your speech at Edinburgh on the Ist September last. I think it will only be fair to myself and to you that I should bring the matter under the notice of the House.
