This volume explores Mozart's relationship with England and the English. His residence in London from 1764-65 and his exposure to the musical scene which greeted him is described in detail. His performances, his compositions and his life in London are all recounted. The text tells how, during his subsequent visit to Italy, he encountered many famous English diplomats, expatriates, and those on the Grand Tour. The final part of the text describes the posthumous visit of the English admirers, Vincent and Mary Novello, to Mozart's surviving relatives and friends, and charts England's response to his music from his death to the present day.
