I wrote this book to share the journey Cheryl and I walked together before, during, and after her two-year battle with stage 4 terminal cancer. It's a love story, a story of strength, and ultimately, a story of healing-one step at a time.
If you've experienced the loss of a spouse or someone close to you, I want you to know this: you're not walking this road alone. Grief can feel like a heavy, silent companion. But as I've learned, grief is also a teacher. It teaches you about yourself, about the people who will stand beside you (sometimes unexpectedly), and about the quiet strength that lives inside you.
This book is about Cheryl's incredible courage, how we chose to live fully even in the face of the unimaginable, and the challenges I've faced since her passing. It's also about movement-not just physical, but emotional and spiritual.
That's where my personal philosophy comes in: Motion is lotion for the body and soul. Whether it's a walk in the woods, a quiet paddle on a still lake, or simply getting out of bed and facing the day, movement helps us heal. It keeps the heart supple, the spirit open, and the memory of our loved ones alive in all the ways we keep going.
My hope is that this story encourages you to keep moving-however slowly, however gently-toward healing, toward peace, and toward a life where love continues to grow, even through loss.
