It was the writer's privilege to be associated with him in the preparation of the first edition. This edition has been remodelled in accordance with the various changes which time has brought about in the department of medicine of which it treats. The plan originally adopted and carried out through many of Dr. Keat ing's suggestions has been followed in the preparation of this edition.
