Publisher's Synopsis
Our young people - and even those not so young and their parents - know very little about the hideous effects of the Second World War and what our grandparents had been through. In this story we're going to meet a Mosta family and the experiences they and the rest of the people of this village went through: continuous air raids, life in the shelters, death and destruction, sacrifices and bravery, food rations, victory kitchens, the Santa Marija convoy, and eventually victory celebrations. All this was endured by all the people of Malta and Gozo, but but those of Mosta had much more than a fair share of them for various reasons. But above all, we shall encounter the frightful experience of these brave people when they came face to face with an averted tragedy which could have seen the destruction of their beloved Rotunda and the many people inside the church had the bomb which fell through their famous dome exploded. Was it a miracle or is it still a mystery? Here we shall also learn about the history of this famous church, about the legendary Mosta bride...Tony C. Cutajar is one the most prolific authors of the Maltese islands.
