It has grown up around its harbour, in use for 900 years and was given a new lease of life by the North Sea oil industry. Tom Valentine spent thirteen years as an electrical technician in the oil industry, working in both Libya and the North Sea. He has since changed career, and spent the past sixteen years involved in young people's care in the Montrose area.
